Elafonissi (Elafonisos for many) is located in the southwest corner of the prefecture of Chania, Crete, and is something between an island and a peninsula.
Elafonissi means an island of deer, but you will not see any deer walking on the island or in the surrounding area. It is 75 km from Chania and you will need about 2 hours to get here.
